 tithing has gone for the pastors paycheck.  What is the right way to handle this?
Do you think that times will get so that churches will have to turn to each other for support and help?    Thanks for your input and help.

Praise to God, it is time to think outside the barns, boxes, and corrals, and start thinking inside the pages of scripture.. "rightly dividing the Word of truth"

How many buildings did Jesus build?
How many buildings did Paul or the other apostles build?  None you say?   :exactly:

Let's rethink this a moment. If tithing is an error from both OT and NT, and NT is about giving,  let's see what the NT says about giving:

Jesus said:
  • "as you have done it to the LEAST of these, my BRETHREN, ye have done it unto ME". (He was teaching them to meet the needs of others)   Paul an apostle testified: "only that i should remember the poor, that which i was careful to do".
  • and to the churches in 1 Corinthians 16:1  Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye
  • 2 Corinthians 9:12    For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
    Quote
    Revelation 19:8    And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
  •  Matthew 6:1    Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
  • 2nd Corinthians 9:9    as it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever.
+++++++++++++++++++ Before listening to some supposed building/ministry/ and preacher, better take a close look at how those last three verses fit together ++++++++++++++++++. and of course, what Paul told the CHURCH LEADERS in Ephesus, to the "bishops" and "elders", which are fancy words for "overseers" of an assembly.  33 I coveted no man`s silver, or gold, or apparel.    (he never begged for an offering or did fundraisers) 34 Ye yourselves know that these hands  (Pauls own hands)  ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.   (yes, he worked to supply his needs and others for three years while he also preached, healed, and cast out demons for NO charge)  35  In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring   (an old way of saying "I WORKED) ye ought to help the weak,  (not take tithes-offerings from them) and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.  (notice, He did not say tithe like the apostates do)  and the above scriptures are but a few that tell us where the majority of our support ought to be going. We see from many verses the "giving" is not the place where you sit once a week in a pew.
  • The church is a people not a building.  The apostates that depend on making a living from the offering plate think giving to build, improve, remodel, and furnish the place is giving to God. It is not. When you give to God's people, you are doing it as to the Lord. -that is what Jesus said.    May God Almighty direct your giving........   >
