For those considering a winter garden, I highly recommend that you start your planning now. Decide what you want , and more importantly what will fit and is compatable.

Remember that winter gardens grow much slower so I say get a jump by planting in mid september. Also consider where the sunsine is concentrated and for how long,as you can block out light to another planted section.

If your summer garden has run it's course, start clearing it out and begin to amend the soil for winter. Each plant removes a different mineral from the soil and needs to be replaced. You will now have plenty of time to test your soil and be ready for planting.

My favorite selections last year were the baby greens, and arugula. Man, I really enjoyed those arugula salads!
