Fresno Area CHP Reports Fatal Collision

On December 30, 2018, at approximately 0344 hours, the Fresno Communications Center received a call of a vehicle verses pedestrian collision, with a possible fatality, on Manning Avenue west of Leonard Avenue. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fresno Area Office responded to the scene and investigated the collision.

Mr. Flores was driving a 2004 Honda eastbound in the #2 lane of Manning Avenue approaching Leonard Avenue at 65-70 mph. A pedestrian was walking within the eastbound #2 lane of Manning Avenue. Mr. Flores observed the pedestrian directly ahead of him, however, he was unable to slow or stop prior to colliding into the pedestrian with the front of the Honda. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Alcohol was determined to be a factor in this collision, however, the primary cause is still under investigation.
