TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARRESTS – FRAUD INVESTIGATION

On July 12, 2018 at approximately 6:15 p.m., officer Lyle Kelley made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Santa Barbara Street. In the course of the investigation the driver, Alexander Cody Mosell, 22 of Los Banos was arrested for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Passenger Obet Rodriguez, 23 of Los Banos was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Jessie James Lewis, 20 of Olympia, Washington was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation, officer Kelley located equipment used for making fraudulent credit cards, including blank VISA cards and the machine used to stamp or emboss the card. Additionally, a printer and other equipment used in countering fitting US currency were recovered. The investigation into this crime is ongoing and our department is working with analysts from the Merced County VIPER program to identify potential victims and additional suspects.
